The Nisichawayasihk Nihitho Heritage, Language Culture (NNHLC) is looking to fill the position of Administrative Assistant/Resource Developer.

Overall, the Administrative Assistant/Resource Developer is responsible and accountable to Elvis Thomas, Director of Nisichawayasihk Nihitho Heritage Language Culture (NNHLC) for providing support services for the Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture and Education Authority Inc. (NNCEA)Nisichawayasihk Nihitho Heritage Language Culture (NNHLC) 

Duties

Administrative Assistant/Resource Developer handles various duties to support daily office operations and to develop and produce teaching/learning resources that can support the education of the Asiniskaw ithiniwak language, culture and history, including:

  • Assist in coordinating meetings and managing schedules to keep workflows organized and meet deadlines.    
  • Handling pertinent calls, emails, and other correspondence while prioritizing urgent matters and maintaining professional communication.
  • Preparing, maintaining and organizing files, records, and documents in digital and physical formats for easy access and retrieval.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and spreadsheets by compiling data and formatting information in a clear, professional manner.
  • Ordering office supplies, managing inventory levels, and coordinating equipment maintenance to ensure a well-stocked and efficient workspace.
  • Liaising with vendors, and internal staff to relay information.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive information, company records, and documents.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned. 
  • Develops materials such as demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, reference works, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Skills required:

  • Speaking/understanding Asiniskaw Ithiniwak (NCN) dialect would be an asset.
  • Must have/willing to learn culturally competent skills in Asiniskaw Ithiniwak culture.
  • Have strong technology skills required (computer, typing, etc.), PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook programs.
  • Research skills will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to create and develop resources such as flashcards, posters, etc.
  • Must be able to adapt to a high energy work ethic and diligently apply a strong work ethic in the workplace.
  • Must be able to provide weekly updates on work and tasks completed.
  • Must be willing to learn and apply the educational curriculum in language and culture.
  • Knowledge of reporting methods and techniques.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and expediate work projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license would be considered an asset.
