Student Services Mission Statement
Guided by the values and traditions of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, Students Services works to remove barriers to learning, celebrate student strengths, and provide responsive supports that promote academic achievement, wellness, self-determination, and lifelong success for all learners.
Student Services Philosophy
Student Services is committed to supporting the success, well-being, and belonging of every learner.
Through collaboration with families, educators, Elders, and community partners, we create inclusive learning environments that honor Nehetho language, identity, and diverse strengths while ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities.
Connection to MTSS (Multi-Tiered Services of Support) and Inclusive Education
For a Student Services team, NNCEA’s philosophy aligns well with a framework that would:
- Prioritize early intervention
- Integrate cultural supports alongside academic supports
- Use collaborative problem-solving teams
- Engage families as partners
- Strengthen student voice and self-advocacy
- Provide layered academic, behavioral, and wellness supports
- Honor Indigenous knowledge and ways of living
