Student Services Coordinator

The Student Services Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for inclusive education, student support services, and intervention programming to ensure all students can achieve academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success. This role coordinates multidisciplinary services, collaborates with educators, families, and community partners, and supports the implementation of evidence-based practices, individualized programming, and MTSS frameworks.

Resource Teacher

 The Resource Teacher is an educator who provides targeted academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs. They work collaboratively with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to ensure students can access the curriculum and achieve success in an inclusive learning environment.

Educational Assistants

 Educational Assistants work under the direction of teachers and school staff to support students’ academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical needs in inclusive learning environments.

Guidance Counsellors

 A Guidance Counsellor supports students’ academic, social-emotional, career, and personal development. They work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to promote student well-being, resilience, and success.

Cultural Counsellors

 A Cultural Counsellor supports students’ social, emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural well-being by integrating cultural identity, traditions, language, and community connections into student support services. Cultural Counsellors play a vital role in fostering belonging, resilience, and positive identity development while strengthening relationships among students, families, schools, and communities.

Child and Youth Care Worker (CYCW)

 A Child and Youth Care Worker (CYCW) supports students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and mental well-being by building positive relationships, fostering resilience, and helping students develop the skills needed for success in school, at home, and in the community. Child and Youth Care Workers play a key role in creating safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments.

Registered Counselling Therapist (RCC)

 A Registered Certified Counsellor (RCC) provides professional mental health counselling services to support students’ emotional, social, behavioral, and psychological well-being. Within a school-based Student Services model, the RCC works collaboratively with students, families, educators, community agencies, and other specialists to address barriers to learning and promote student success.

Literacy Student Support

 A Literacy Student Support Teacher provides targeted literacy instruction, intervention, assessment, and coaching to improve student achievement in reading, writing, oral language, and communication. Working within an inclusive education and MTSS framework, the Literacy Student Support Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, families, and Student Services staff to identify and address literacy needs while promoting success for all learners.

Student Support Services Teacher

 A Student Support Services Teacher is an inclusive education professional who coordinates and delivers academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and individualized supports for students requiring additional assistance to succeed in school.

Occupational Therapist (OT)

 An Occupational Therapist (OT) supports students in developing the physical, sensory, cognitive, self-regulation, and functional skills needed to participate successfully in school, home, and community environments. Occupational Therapists work collaboratively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to remove barriers to learning and promote independence, engagement, and well-being.

 Occupational Therapist Educational Assistant (OTEA)

 An Occupational Therapy Educational Assistant (OTEA) supports students’ physical, sensory, motor, self-regulation, and functional skill development under the supervision and guidance of an Occupational Therapist (OT). The OTEA works collaboratively with educators, families, and Student Services personnel to implement therapeutic strategies that promote independence, participation, and success in school environments.

 

Special Language Pathologist (SLP)

 A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) supports students’ communication development by assessing, identifying, and addressing speech, language, social communication, fluency, voice, and literacy-related needs. SLPs work collaboratively with students, families, educators, and Student Services teams to reduce communication barriers and promote academic achievement, social participation, and overall well-being.

Speech Language Educational Assistant (SLEA)

A Speech-Language Educational Assistant (SLEA) supports students with speech, language, communication, and social communication needs under the supervision and guidance of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and in collaboration with teachers and Student Services staff. The SLEA helps implement communication strategies and intervention programs that promote student participation, learning, and independence.

School Psychologist

A School Psychologist is a specialized educational and mental health professional who supports students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and psychological development. School Psychologists work collaboratively with students, families, educators, administrators, and Student Services teams to identify barriers to learning, promote student well-being, and develop effective interventions that support student success.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Specialist

 An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Specialist is an educational professional who provides expertise, consultation, coaching, assessment support, and intervention planning for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related neurodevelopmental needs. The ASD Specialist works collaboratively with students, families, educators, Educational Assistants, and multidisciplinary teams to promote inclusion, communication, independence, self-regulation, and academic success.

 

Behavior Analyst

A Behavior Analyst supports students by assessing, understanding, and improving behaviors that impact learning, social development, emotional well-being, and school participation. Using evidence-based and student-centered approaches, the Behavior Analyst collaborates with students, families, educators, and Student Services professionals to develop proactive interventions that promote positive behavior, self-regulation, independence, and academic success.

Role of Elders in the School

Elders play a vital role in creating culturally responsive, inclusive, and holistic learning environments. They bring traditional knowledge, cultural teachings, language, values, and life experiences that strengthen students’ identity, well-being, and sense of belonging.

Inclusive Education and Curriculum Specialist

An Inclusive Education and Curriculum Specialist provides leadership in ensuring that all students have equitable access to high-quality, culturally responsive learning opportunities. The role supports schools, teachers, student services staff, families, and community partners to strengthen inclusive practices and improve student outcomes.
