SUMMER STUDENT WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM-COORDINATOR
Job Description: The Summer Student Work Experience Coordinator oversees the implementation of securing employment opportunities for High School and Post-Secondary students, as well implementing and overseeing a variety of micro-projects in the community. This position consists of selecting suitable candidates to be placed in a variety of different entities within Nisichawayasihk. This position also consists of monitoring the day-to-day activities of 35-40 students and ensuring their safety while in the work filed. As part of this position, coordination of micro-projects will be established, with implementation by the Summer Student team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Help organize and develop pre-employment programs for students
- Plan and coordinate orientation for summer students at their respective locations
- Ensure employers have safe working environments and act as a liaison between the employer and summer student
- Assess and interview potential applicants for suitability
- Keep accurate records of student attendance and time worked, submit time
- Liaison with NNCEA HR and Payroll for student payments
- Organize a CPR first aid workshop for students from a third party
- Assign students on community team to various tasks each day (IE: lawnmowing, wood cutting, garbage clean up)
- Liaison with other agencies (IE: ATEC, NCN Businesses) to provide further opportunities for students in fields such as trades
- Acquire needed materials for employees
- Ensure all students complete an end of year program evaluation
- Other Duties as assigned by NNCEA
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Post Secondary Program and returning in the fall
- NCN Band member
- Valid Drivers License
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
Hours of Work:
8:30am-4:00pm Monday through Friday
Start and End Dates:
June 8, 2026 to August 30, 2026
Rate of Pay:
$24.00 an hour
