Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture and Education Authority (NNCEA) is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and community-driven leader to serve as Principal of NNOC High School (Grades 7–12). This role consists of providing instructional leadership, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, and advancing student success through culturally responsive and academically rigorous programming. This role also requires a leader who is committed to Indigenous education, language revitalization (Nihitho), land-based learning, and holistic student development.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Lead and support high-quality teaching and learning for Grades 7–12
- Supervise, evaluate, and support teaching staff to strengthen instructional practice
- Promote data-informed decision-making (attendance, achievement, credit attainment)
- Ensure alignment with Manitoba curriculum and NNCEA priorities
- Promote strong attendance in alignment with NNCEA Attendance Policy
- Support student engagement, graduation pathways, and credit completion
- Oversee crisis response, emergency management, and student support services in liaison with department leads.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed school environment
- Build a positive, accountable, and collaborative school culture
- Lead staff meetings, professional development, and school improvement planning
- Support staff well-being and professional growth
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and community members
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Collaborate with Chief & Council, NNCEA leadership, and external agencies instructional leadership and staff supervision
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Cultural competency and respect for Nihitho language and traditions
- Implement conflict resolution and mediation for students and staff
- Organizational and strategic planning skills
Qualifications/Requirements
- Valid Manitoba Teaching License and Bachelors of Education
- Previous teaching experience
- Previous administrative experience
- Valid and clear Child Abuse and Criminal Record Check
