Assistant Finance Comptroller – NNCEA

Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture and Education Authority is seeking an experienced Assistant Finance

Comptroller to manage all aspects of financial operations, including financial reporting, budget and forecast

preparation, management of financial records, and adherence to policies and procedures. The successful

candidate will be highly self-motivated with a strong attention to detail, and proficient in accounting functions

while ensuring and promoting accuracy. This position is based full-time at the Alice Moore Education Centre.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and perform accounting operations including A/P, A/R, payroll, and reconciliations

• Manage bank accounts, investments, capital items and credit products

• Daily use of ACCPCC and Microsoft Office software

• Coordinate and prepare various budgets and financial forecasts

• Ensure timely compliance with local, federal, and provincial government reporting

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls

• Prepare and present monthly financial statements for Board review

• Perform accurate data entry and journal entries

• Take lead on audit preparation and coordinate with auditors to ensure compliance

• Manage Service Canada and CRA accounts

• Mentor and lead the finance team

Qualifications:

• Post-Secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in accounting or related field, a designation an asset

• 5+ years of overall accounting, finance, and/or bookkeeping experience

• Demonstrated experience at the senior finance officer level or higher

• Experience in performing payroll and issuing remittances

• Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and internal controls

• Excellent and accurate skills in ACCPCC and general computer applications

• Previous experience in a management, supervisor or leadership role

• Experience in records management

• Strong and efficient communication skills

 

Wage: Negotiable based on qualifications and skills.
