July 5, 1959 – Sept 16, 2024
On behalf of The Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture and Education Authority (NNCEA), board of directors, management, staff, and teachers of the NNOC and OK schools, we express our heartfelt condolences and sympathy following the passing of Phyllis Hart. During this period of mourning and sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
Phyllis Hart dedicated 43 years to education (beginning August 26, 1981), touching countless lives of students with her kindness, wisdom, and support. As a teacher, she served not only as an instructor and mentor but as a guide for her students with a deep sense of compassion and dedication. Phyllis taught a variety of classes, including most recently teaching Grade 2 Cree Immersion at Otayitiskiwin Kiskinwahamakikamik school. Her impact extended far beyond the classroom, imparting valuable lessons on knowledge, traditions, and the interconnectedness of all things. She believed education was the key to better lives for all students.
In her personal life, Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and caregiver. The same love and devotion she showed to her family were evident in her work with her students and the broader community. Her nurturing spirit and genuine caring soul were the essence of her character – enriching the lives of everyone she encountered. Phyllis was an integral part of the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, contributing to various spiritual groups, community groups, and volunteering her time and leadership wherever needed.
As we grieve the loss of Phyllis Hart, let us also acknowledge the legacy she leaves behind. Her profound influence and the cherished memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort us in the days and years to come. May her teachings and the spirit of her compassion live on in the hearts of those she touched, bringing peace and solace to all who knew her.
Rest in peace Phyllis. May your legacy and teachings continue to inspire generations to come. Your smile, laughter, and caring heart will be remembered by all. You will be greatly missed.
