We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Staff Wellness & Mental Health Counsellor, Therapist, or Wellness Coach to play a key role in promoting staff wellness and offering accessible support services.

Position Overview

The Staff Wellness & Mental Health Counsellor/Therapist/Coach will provide confidential counselling, wellness coaching, and proactive mental health support to NNCEA staff. The purpose of this role is to assist staff with managing stress, enhancing mental health, improving wellness, and developing healthy personal and professional habits.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with NNCEA leadership to build a culture that values well-being, balance, and holistic wellness grounded in community, culture, and respect.

This position may be offered as:

  • Full-time employment, OR
  • Contractual engagement, with terms defined in an individualized contract

Remote or in-person service delivery options will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential counselling, coaching, and wellness support to NNCEA staff.
  • Assist staff in managing stress, burnout, and work-life balance.
  • Support staff in developing healthy lifestyles, including nutrition, physical wellness, sleep routines, and self-care planning.
  • Provide guidance in goal setting, habit-building, personal development, and wellness planning.
  • Offer culturally responsive and trauma-informed mental health support.
  • Deliver workshops, group sessions, or presentations related to staff wellness and resilience.
  • Participate in the development of NNCEA’s staff wellness initiatives, policies, and programs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation consistent with professional practice standards.
  • Collaborate with administrators and department leads to promote a supportive and healthy workplace culture.
  • Provide guidance on crisis-prevention strategies and referrals when appropriate.

Qualifications

Candidates may be considered from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Registered Social Worker (RSW)
  • Registered Counsellor or Therapist
  • Mental Health Practitioner
  • Wellness or Life Coach with accredited training
  • Psychology, counselling, or mental health-related degree or certification

Required/Preferred Skills:

  • Experience providing counselling, coaching, or wellness support
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, community wellness, and holistic well-being practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards
  • Capacity to provide remote or in-person services
  • Ability to design wellness workshops, resources, or staff wellness plan

Hours & Contract Flexibility

  • Flexible schedule depending on staff needs
  • Option for in-person, remote, or hybrid services
  • Contract details (if contracted) to be determined based on experience, availability, and program needs
  • Salary and or contract wages negotiable
