The Assistant Director of Education (ADOE) is employed by NNCEA and works under the direction of the Executive Director. The ADOE participates in strategic planning, day to day operations, and other various tasks related to K-12 education, Post Secondary Education, and other facets of our system. The ADOE is responsible for implementing directives from the Executive Director, supporting staff, administration and community, and various strategic plans.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementing the vision and direction of the NNCEA School Board of Trustees and Nisichawayasihk Chief and Council
- Assist the Executive Director with day-to-day system operations and leadership
- Supervises and supports school administration
- Creates, implements, and supports student achievement systems
- Assists school administration with preparing, planning, and navigating student needs
- Ensures program alignment with Manitoba Education outcomes
- Assists with incorporating the Nehetho Culture and traditions into the school system
- Ensuring cultural initiatives are resourced and respected
- Supports culturally responsive teaching and land-based education
- Monitors and validates the Mature Student Diploma Program and Grade 12 graduation
- Oversees the development, revision, and coordination of student support services, crisis response, and mental health in collaboration with school teams
- Assists with High-Cost Special Education reporting and funding
- Assists with grant acquisition, proposal writing, and implementation of proposal driven programs
- Creates, implements, and supports attendance intervention systems for staff and students
- Oversees attendance and enrollment for K-12 programs and strategic planning related to attendance
- Oversees the implementation of bench marking and data collection/management for all programs
- Oversees Post Secondary Education strategic planning, funding, and program guidebook
- Supports the Program Coordinator with deliverables and programs related to this position
- Assists with resolving conflict between stakeholders and employees
- Provides community leadership and assists with major initiatives
- Assists with the creation, revision, and implementation of NNCEA strategic plan and program strategic plans
- Acts as a liaison and support to all program managers (Transportation, Maintenance, Student Services, Post Secondary, Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Schools, Language and Culture)
- Acts as Executive Director when required
- Is provided with direction from the Executive Director
Qualifications:
Master of Education (or equivalent, or in process)
General Administrative Experience
Teaching Experience
Class 5 license
Clear Child Abuse/Criminal Record Check
Valid Manitoba Teaching License
Salary: The salary is based on teaching qualifications and administrative allowance
Position: This position is year-round and falls under NNCEA Management Policies
