         The Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture and Education Authority is seeking applicants for the position of Resource Teacher at our elementary school. This role involves assisting classroom teachers and providing additional one-on-one support for students with moderate to severe learning difficulties. This position plays a key role in fostering an inclusive learning environment and helping students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor students’ progress with reference to their individual education plans (IEPS) to ensure goals are being met
  • Coordinate meeting to discuss modifications to IEPs as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date and confidential student records, ensuring that IEPs are updated as least three times per year
  • Accept new referrals from teachers in accordance with the established referral process
  • Play a lead role in developing IEPs for students
  • Coordinates inter-agency involvement in the development and implementation of IEPs
  • Ensure timely referrals for guidance services, psycho-educational assessments, speech and language support, and medical evaluations
  • Maintain updated medical records, including hearing and vision screenings for students who required additional support
  • Provide individual and small group interventions for students who required additional support
  • Provides guidance and assistance to educational assistants assigned to work with students who require additional support
  • Facilitate the release of confidential date for inter-agency collaboration as required
  • Submit monthly reports on activities and student progress to the Resource Program Coordinator
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is education
  • Valid Manitoba teaching certification

Personal Attributes and Characteristics:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of special education polices, IEP processes, and student support strategies.

Hourly wage: Based on salary grid in our collective agreement.
