Administrative Assistant with Nisicawâyâsîhk Nîhitho Heritage Language and Culture Department within NNCEA. 

One (1) year Term Contract with a 3-month probationary period beginning at the start date stipulated in the contract.

Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience

Duties:

The Administrative Assistant will be required to perform an array of responsibilities that include:

  • General secretarial and receptionist duties that include receiving and screening all in-bound calls, scheduling and keeping track of progress on specific NNHLC projects, emails, visitors;
  • Document production including typing, transcription, syllabics conversion of work produced.
  • Managing in-bound and out-bound mail;
  • Minute taking at administrative meetings.
  • Assisting with preparing both proposal and internal reporting documents; and
  • Other duties, as assigned.

The Administrative Assistant must possess the following:

  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing
  • Have strong technology skills required (computer, typing, etc.), PowerPoint, Word, Excel programs.
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to type efficiently.
  • Have a minimum of one-year experience in a related industry. (Some on the job training will be provided.)
  • Research skills will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to create and develop resources such as flashcards, posters etc.
  • Must be able to provide weekly updates on work and tasks completed.
  • Knowledge of methods of planning, developing, and administering programs to expedite work projects.
  • Must be willing to learn and apply the educational curriculum in language and culture.

Ability to speak and understand Asiniska Ithiniwak dialect will be an asset
